linking emails with mac calendar

It appears I've lost a basic function. Until recently, I could make an event in Mac Calendar, then drag an email from Mac Mail, and it would create a link from Calendar back to that email.

Today, if I drag an email, it makes a link that goes to a blank page in Safari. The supposed link is nothing but the subject line of the email.

Looking at events I made a few days ago, I still have email links, and they work. But I can't make new ones in new events. What happened?

Hey there khungui,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. When we tested this on our Mac, content from the email was placed in the event and then we could click on the event and open in Mail. If this isn’t working for you, test in both safe mode and a new user account on your Mac. This can isolate the issue and see if this is related to certain settings or software on your user account or if this is affecting the whole device.

Take care.

Barberlives,

Thanks, but still no go. I tried safe mode, also made a new account. Still, when I drag an email from Mac Mail to a Mac Calendar event, all I get is the subject line from the email; clicking on it takes me to Safari, and a dead end. Calendar thinks it's an url, apparently.

FWIW, I also try dragging emails into the Notes app, and find that it works erratically there. Sometimes it makes a link, sometimes it gives me only the email subject line.

All software is up to date.

Arggg, just discovered something. I can drag an email into Calendar, drop it onto a day or an hour, and it creates a new event. That works, yay -- and that might be what you thought I was trying to do.

What I cannot do is drag the email into an existing event -- that is, double-click an existing event to open its little window and drag it there. Maybe that's not supposed to be possible, but I thought it used to be; and it would certainly help my workflow.
