Markup Ruler not Working on PDF files

The ruler will not allow me to draw straight lines on a pdf. Will work for images such as PNG or JPEG and within the Notes app etc.

But when trying to markup a pdf and use the ruler function, it does not recognise the ruler and I cannot get a straight line. Why is this and can it be changed? All software is up to date. I can’t find any option to toggle on and off the straight line function. I’m using the latest iOS 15.3.1

Strangely it was working fine for about an hour and then just stopped working. I’ve tried closing all apps and rebooting the iPad, but no change. I think this is a software bug that needs addressing.

Hello Frappawotsit,

We see you're having issues using Markup feature on your iPad, and we'd like to help out.

This page here can help with using that: Use Markup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

It may also help to try force closing and relaunching the PDF. This page can help with that, if needed: Quit and reopen an app on iPad

Also, try testing multiple PDFs just to see if it's isolated to a particular one.

Cheers.
