Q:Verbatim Slimline CD/DVD Writer problem- SOLUTION: USE A DIFFERENT CABLE

Someone asked, "I have a Verbatim external slimline CD/DVD Writer, but the software is not compatible with the Catalina Mac OS on my lap top." Why?

I, too purchased one, and asked Verbatim and they said, "We would like to inform you that the External Slimline CD/DVD Writer is a plug n play device. It doesn't require any drivers to be downloaded and we request you to insert single longer USB cable of the device to your computer."

What?!? A longer cable?! . It appears they shipped these with DEFECTIVE cables. All I had to do was USE A DIFFERENT CABLE and it worked perfectly!

So there’s this warning that comes up about the drive not being compatible with Mac, and when trying to burn it just damages dvd’s. I went through about 10 till I figured out to get a successful burn All I had to do is burn at the slowest speed. I googled the drive and seen this post I copied and pasted, I might try a different high quality cable soon to see if it makes a difference. Hope this helps somebody.
