I used to be able to lock my MacBook Air with my TouchID. Now I can't.

For a long time I have been able to unlock and lock my MacBook Air by pressing my TouchID. It works for passwords and everything else.

I recently updated to Monterey and now I find myself unable to lock my laptop by pressing the button. I can unlock it with TouchID just fine and no other feature seems effected.

I've looked around all over my settings and can't seem to find anything to help. Did they remove this feature? Am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you hold down the TID button, it will lock your MBA. You need to use one of your fingerprinted fingers.

We understand that you're no longer able to lock your Mac with Touch ID, so we'd like to share some resources with you. Start by making sure you're running the latest version of macOS Monterey (12.2.1): Get the latest software updates from Apple. If it's already updated or if updating doesn't help, follow the steps outlined in this article, including adding another fingerprint: If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac.

If the issue persists, reset the SMC if your Mac has an Intel processor: How to reset the SMC of your Mac.
