ipad email showing strange characters

Sometimes it looks like Chinese. How do I fix this? Is it Apple or my email provider?

iphone mail and accented chars Hello, Managing a website which sends email order details to customers/shop owners, I recently realized that the accented chars (French) are not properly displayed/rendered on my iPhone using the latest iOS 16.1.2 I don't recall when this started happening but it used to be rendering normally not so long ago. Tried to include <meta http-equiv='content-type' content='text/html;' charset='UTF-8'>" in my email message with no luck... Changed it to iso-8859-1: same results... Verified that within a browser the message displays ok, and it does.. Verified in gmail/outlook etc...and message is also displayed correctly Is there anything new that would need to be done in order to display the message with accents? Thanks

Email read on iphone has Chinese looking characters - any thoughts? Hello, I have a similar problem to someone who posted earlier (but no one has replied to them). Some email texts received and read on my iphone 12 pro, show Chinese characters instead of English. When the email is opened on my computer, the text is in English (no Chinese characters). Do you think my iphone has been hacked in some way? Thank you for any thoughts and replies.

Are you using the Mail app? Try using webmail instead?
