Scrolling with bluetooth mouse in iPad doesn't always work when AssistiveTouch is enabled

I have paired a Logitech M555b Bluetooth mouse with my 2019 iPad and I used AssistiveTouch to configure button 3 so that clicking it goes to the Home screen.

But, for some reason, scrolling will constantly stop working if AssistiveTouch is turned on.

Sometimes scrolling stops working and then works again a little later.

But no matter what, if AssistiveTouch is turned on, then scrolling is intermittent and unreliable.

The moment AssistiveTouch is turned off, scrolling works again and has zero problems.

But without AssistiveTouch I cannot use my customized Home button 3 shortcut.

I have done general unpair/repair etc troubleshooting with no luck.

Can anyone help?

I haven't been able to find if this is a known issue.

I tried pairing an Apple Magic Mouse with the iPad instead, but scrolling didn't work whatsoever with it and the iPad showed a warning that using the Magic Mouse could cause WiFi and Bluetooth issues with the iPad.

Hello DigitalDuderino,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with using your third mouse button when Assistive Touch is active. It looks like your iPadOS needs updating to iOS 15.3.1. Do you have a recent backup for the data in your iPhone in iCloud or your computer? If not, we recommend that you create one as described here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Then update your iPadOS as outlined here: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You may also find helpful information about this here: How to use a pointer device with AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If that doesn't help, with all of the other troubleshooting you've completed, we recommend reaching out to the manufacturer of the mouse for further assistance.

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
