After deleting full box can’t get new mail

I wasn’t able to receive new emails because my box was full so I hit select all and deleted all emails on my phone. Now I’m unable to receive or send emails. I keep getting a message to check mail settings. I tried logging out and back in but still stuck. I desperately count on my iCloud email account for my work opportunities especially this week since I’m between contracts. Please help
