Since my watch updated to 8..4.2 over the weekend I am no longer getting my iMessages to preview on my watch. Prior to this update I would receive the haptic notification of a message, turn my wrist and see the message. I can’t get this feature to return and defeats the main use I have for the watch. Anyone else experiencing this? Know of a fix?

Are you getting the text notification on your iPhone?
Check Settings > Messages > Notifications >
is Allow ON? are other important options: ON?
Check on your paired iPhone.
My Watch > Messages > Mirror my iPhone: selected?

Then unpair your Watch from your iPhone and then pair again.
FWIW, I have no issue with iMessages or SMS texts on my Watch running the latest watchOS 8.4.2.
I thought I was the only one with issues. I have a series 5 and I tried everything, unpairing, repairing, resetting, hard reset soft reset I’ve done it all and after the last two updates my messages that enter from non contact names are not synching with my phone. For example a customer service text from a phone number or a log in verification text these messages come through and if I view them on my phone the watch never marks them as read unless I manually go into the watch and open them.
super frustrating. And yea my settings are set to background apps running for messages, yea they are set to mirroring iPhone, yes I’ve rebooted and unpaired! I am pretty tech savvy and can almost guarantee there is a faulty code here with watchOS 8.4.X was hoping the 8.4.2 would fix the issue but it has not.
Yes, it was selected.
