MPEG-4 - no audio pass through?
Hello,
I added a new setting based on "MPEG-4",
and noticed that it's not possible to use "audio pass through".
Why is this so?
It was always possible for "QuickTime Movie".

MPEG-4 has very specific requirements for the video and audio content. The MPEG-4 audio components are very limited, basically different forms of AAC. QuickTime allows many different audio formats. Why, if the original is AAC, it doesn't allow pass through I don't know, probably the application is designed to look at the file and change the interface.
Are you talking about a Compressor setting in FCP? Can you give the full details of the setting perhaps a screenshot of what you creating?

In Compressor the audio tab looks like this:
No checkbox for audio pass through.
For QuickTime Movies settings it looks like this:
