My MyPhotos keeps quitting unexpectedly. I just bought a new 24" iMac with M1 chip and Monterey in it. I repaired the Photo library. I force quit and restarted my computer. Nothing helps. Does anybody know how to fix it?

My Photos constantly quitting without any warning. I have a brand new iMac 24" with M1 chip in it. The computer has 1TB ssd drive and 8GB memory. I repaired the library. I forced quit the Photos and restarted the Mac. Nothing helps! I am enclosing the "Problem Details and System Configuration" window that appears every time the Photos quit. Does anybody know what to do?

The idea is you send the crash report to Apple and they can datamine them to learn if there are systemic issues. But I don't think there is a systemic issue or the forum would be flooded with reports of Photos crashing after 15 minutes.

Hi

where is your library package stored. If on an external drive, what is the format?

If on the internal drive (or a correctly formatted external), then it might be worth restarting your mac in safe mode and then trying.

Then restart normally, and try again.

Safe mode will clear temporary files and caches, and sometimes fixes odd glitches such as this.

The point? The point is simple. If you can create and open a new library then we know the issue is with your existing library. If you can't then we might suspect the issue is systemic, but to test that we'd create a new user account and try open a library there. And bugs don't "travel", plus, as this is not occurring on other machines it's likely not a bug but something local to your set up.

Apple do not promise to read anything here. This is not a route to Apple Support.

Thank you! I'll try to open a new library and see what happens. My existing library does not crash immediately, but after 15 or so minutes working with the photos.

I still, for the sake of me, do not understand, what is the purpose of the detailed report dutifully generated on my screen by Apple after every Photos crash, when there is no-one to read it and act upon it! We shouldn't even guess - it's all in the report for Apple technicians to look at and repair!
