Setting up my new iPhone and it won’t let me add my number under settings because I can’t receive the verification code. My phone doesn’t seem to recognize my number.

Not here -> Go to -> Settings -> Phone -> My number ?
Contact your carrier, go to -> Settings -> Mobile network -> scroll to Network selection you can see who your carrier is.

If you can't activate your iPhone
