touch bar server memory

Touch Bar Server is using 8 to 10GB of memory in Activity Mon. Computer warm near the hinge. Fan runs. Can I switch off this function? Does turning off the Touch Bar interfere with the fingerprint reader?

I really don't use the silly touch bar that much and it gets in the way of Shift+number keys such as ^&*()

Can it be turned off at the command line safely? I tried Force Quit but it just comes back.

Hello etoanrish,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. We understand that you're experiencing issues with the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro. Looking over article, Use the Touch Bar on MacBook Pro, there doesn't appear to be an option for disabling the Touch Bar on your Mac.

Since you can't disable it, we'd like to address the issues you're experiencing. Have you tried performing a SMC and/or NVRAM reset? If not, those are good actions to take for help with the fans and power.

Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac

You may also want to try booting your MacBook up into safe mode. You can read more about this feature in article, How to use safe mode on your Mac.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards.
