Hide My Email Not Forwarding Emails

I used Sign In With Apple for multiple apps and chose to use Hide My Email. I have not received a single forwarded email through it. I went into settings and changed the forwarding email address, and it didn’t receive any forwards either. I’ve seen numerous others online with this problem for years and it still isn’t fixed. This has cost me rewards I should have been entitled to from businesses whose apps I used. Fix your stupid feature, Apple.

This is also not working for me either. I placed an order through a website in which I used the hide my email feature. I never received the order confirmation despite knowing the order went through because I did receive a PayPal notification of the order because I checked out through PayPal. Hide my email is set up to go to my Gmail address. I called customer support they cannot figure out what the issue is either . The support rep advised that even though I have the settings set up to forward emails to my Gmail, emails are actually being sent to my iCloud. However I have checked my iCloud and the email is not anywhere within my inbox or junk folders. This is frustrating because these websites won’t let me change the email associated with the account from the random one by apple because they require I enter a password to complete the request. Yet I don’t technically have a password set up since I login through the apple sso. I will not be using the hide my email function anymore. It doesn’t seem to work.

I am also experiencing similar issue with the Hide My Email feature. Sometime between 04-Mar-22 and 08-Mar-22, the mail forwarding service has stopped working and I have been missing on few important mails.

Issue was raised with Apple support desk and it seems Hide My Email feature now needs iCloud+ subscription.

This means I now need to pay for, what used to be a free feature.

I think they were confusing the other 'hide my email' service that you can use with paid iCloud+ It specifically says it is available on iCloud+. Those create @icould addresses and forward to random @icloud address but not these @privaterelay.appleid.com addresses that the app ones use.

I started a $.99 /month account and that iCloud part opened up and i tested an address (which worked and forwarded to the address I have set (same as the address I have on the app ones)) but the other 'hide my email' for apps still doesn't work for me even with a paid account.

My one last hunch on why my tests aren't working to the app emails is that they filter to only allow email from the corresponding app or the developer but I don't have a way to get an email from one of those apps to test the addresses on demand.

Too bad Apple isn't responding on this.

I won't be using the Hide my address on any new apps. Seems like the only way to change my existing ones is to try contacting the companies I used them with to try to change to new address through their support (without breaking your existing accounts with them or orphaning those accounts)

Hello GuppyPupplesMcCoides,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand you are trying to use the Hide My Email feature and so far it hasn't worked properly. We'd be happy to work on this with you. First, we'd recommend making sure either email address you have set up is an active email account that can regularly get emails. Navigate to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Hide My Email, and make sure the address you have set up for the Hide My Email service is an active email account.

Create and manage Hide My Email addresses in Settings on iPhone

If you still aren't able to get forwarded emails, the next best step is to reach out to our dedicated support teams.
