Multiple shared cache files in System/Library/dyld folder

I just saw my dyld folder is 12+ GB (MBPro Monterey 12.2)

There are multiple 'shared_cache' files: eg

aot_shared_cache.0

aot_shared_cache.1

aot_shared_cache.2

aot_shared_cache.3

aot_shared_cache.18027.0

aot_shared_cache.18027.1

aot_shared_cache.18027.2

aot_shared_cache.18027.3

dyld_shared_cache_x86_64 [has 'terminal' icon]

dyld_shared_cache_x86_64.1

dyld_shared_cache_x86_64.2

dyld_shared_cache_x86_64.3

dyld_shared_cache_arm64e [has 'terminal' icon]

dyld_shared_cache_arm64e.1

dyld_shared_cache_x68_64h [has 'terminal' icon]

dyld_shared_cache_x68_64h.1

dyld_shared_cache_x68_64h.2

dyld_shared_cache_x68_64h.3

all are identical file size and creation dates, and total 12.5GB

is this normal or has some corruption occurred?

restart doesn't remove them, do I need to start in recovery mode? reinstall MacOS?

any guidance appreciated, I could do with some extra space

Thanks - have booted into Safe Mode and the all the files are there, no change in file sizes/creation dates or any other feature.

I suspect a hard reset using large hammer will erase my problems - this has been the most problematic mac I have owned since 1990 (Mac SE30)... and I have regretted buying it since the day I bought it (file transfers from TC failed half way through and required reformatting drive and installation ended up taking 2 days) - an omen of my experiences with this MBP

thanks anyway for suggestion, will switch to another laptop and forget about this one
