When you save a photo from Photos to the Desktop with "File > Export > Export unmodified Original" and then open the exported photo in Preview, is the photo still too dark?

Are the photos RAW photos ? Or JPEGs or HEIC?

Thanks for your prompt response and your interest. Yes, when exported same level of light/dark. All pix are Jpeg taken with various iPhones, download from various digital cameras or scanned at 300-600 dpi over the years on several moderate quality scanners. ICloun has been in use for several years now.

Previously on this same MB air, there was no issue with sharpness or light/dark. the device this occurred on is a 2018 MB air running 12.2.1 Looking at identical photo from Library on my own mac mini/lg monitor and my iapd pro, images are sharp and light balanced.
