Not able to activate Touch ID

I am not able to activate Touch ID for sign-in/login on my Mac book pro

Please help

If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac - Apple Support



on an Intel Mac you can try—

resetting the SMC How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support

and

resetting NVRAM/PRAM Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

(get at least two-three rounds of the chimes when holding the NRAM Reset)



on a M1 Mac—try SafeBoot How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support to sort anomalies.


if no resolve: Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"—

Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple


Outside the USA

TouchID not working—


There are a few instances where Touch ID will not be accepted by macOS:


• If you restarted your Mac, or if you're not logged into your user account.

• If you have not unlocked your Mac for 48 hours.

• If you are trying to unlock Security & Privacy

• If you are trying to unlock Users & Groups Preferences (when FileVault is on)

• If 5 wrong fingerprint attempts
