And do I need to authorize download of same on my IPhone? I get a message asking me to do that and open using the VPN. I thought that was for my truck hands free operation?
Also goes on to tell me I need to clear a virus on my IPhone, has an official looking Apple symbol on it and I am refusing to do it.

No You don't. You absolutely do NOT need a VPN unless you're accessing a private corporate network, in which case your employer will give you the information to set it up.
