I need to transfer information to my Mac with a time machine backup where can I get that?

What do you mean where can you 'get that'?

Are you using Time Machine to back up the Mac you need to transfer the information from? If so... then it's on the external drive you have plugged into the old machine for your backups...

If not, then you get it by performing a Time Machine backup of the old machine to an external drive.
