Can’t import photos to iPad 15.1

Have been importing photos for years using a SD card Apple dongle adapter, I.e., removing the card from the camera, inserting it into the dongle and then connecting the dongle to my IPad. Now that I’ve upgraded to 15.1 nothing happens. Tried using a different Apple adapter where the card remains in the camera and the adapter is then connected from the camera to the iPad. Nothing. Switched the iPad on and off, removed then inserted the card. Nothing.

What’s the story?
