If you still need help, reset Face ID, then set it up again. Go to Settings > Face ID &Passcode and tap Reset Face ID. Then tap Set up Face ID to set it up again.
If Face ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad Pro - Apple ...
Do you have a disabled Face ID alert on your device?
Please read the "What to do Next" section in this link, if nothing works as per the instruction given in this link --> If an alert says Face ID has been disabled on your iPhone or iPad Pro

This happened to me. I reset Face ID and it couldn’t recognize my face to even re-enable it. But doing a force restart fixed it and allowed me to set it up again. (A regular power cycle did not work)
Press the Volume Up button and release, and then press the Volume down button and release. Finally, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears on the iPhone screen.
After contact with the Apple support I removed my screen protector. That helped, it seems that it moved a bit and affected the function of the camera.
Strange as it wasn’t obvious. Thanks to the support.
It’s strange that @karissa55’s solution initially worked for me, as it stopped working again after ~2 days. What appears to have worked this time is moving my screen protector a mm down and to the right. Apparently it had shifted and was interfering with the Right most sensor.
The device doesn’t recognize my face in the frame for the reset. Happened immediately post update
Hi, did you solve this problem? Same thing happened to me, I decided to reset the face ID and now it doesn’t recognize any face in the frame. I don’t know what to do.
I restored from a previous iCloud backup before the software update. Works now
I’ve the same problem.
@karissa55 Thanks! This worked for me.
@karissa55 may i know the iphone model you have. I got a iphone 11 pro with same issue
@karissa55 Thanks! This worked for me too
I did that several times but still the sane problem
FaceID continues to fail even after FaceID reset and hard phone reset on iOS 15.3.1. Camera fails to detect face when trying to set up or use. This is a known bug at Apple. Please fix.
