Remote help for elderly parent with ipad

Hi

i live in ireland, but my 86 Year old father lives in spain. He is 86 years old - this means his technical literacy is quite limited.

he has an ipad which is a lifeline for him. Since a software upgrade it is not fetching mail as it should; he can see that he has mail but his mail client won’t give him access to it, he can forward articles from websites by email but cant open his mail client to compose and send emails.

as i said, i am in ireland and he is in spain.

What he really needs is a helpline number he can call for Apple where he can get someone to connect to his device and remotely troubleshoot it.

is there such a number?

many thanks

Hi PJMarat,

Welcome to the Apple Community.

We are all Apple users, like yourself in this Community,

so we can't anticipate how much help Apple in Spain would be able to give over the phone.

Apple has a page of phone numbers in the different countries for support.

May I also suggest a few alternatives ?

Apple does generally have expert help available in its Apple Stores.

So am wondering if you might want to set up a appointment for your father,

if he would be able to visit an Apple Store, taking the iPad with him.

If nothing above works out & help is still needed:

In some countries (like mine, Australia) there is Technical help available for Seniors,

at special organizations devoted to computer help for Seniors.

Example: Noticed this organisation has Spanish listed as one of the languages you can select ...

not sure if it is available in Spain though. ...( Lists a toll-free US number for Tech help.)

https://cyberseniors.org

Some Libraries also offer this help, and service, often on special days when expert advice is made available.

A Seniors Help Line in Spain may be able to point to such an opportunity.

Hope there is something useful here, that works for you, to find a good solution. for your father.

All the best :-)
