Mac messages

Mac messages does not seem to be communicating with iCloud. Does not delete messages, send messages, or receive messages.

If you disable messages in messages preferences you have to enter Apple ID password to enable the account , click on next see the articles Change iMessage preferences in Messages on Mac - Apple Support

Set up iCloud for Messages on all your devices - Apple Support
