Can I use the Time Machine back up external drive used with a Mac Air with a new Mac Air

I have an external hard drive used with Time Machine to back up a Mac Air I recently traded in to Apple. Can I use the same drive with my new Mac Air?

MacBook Air 13″, OS X 10.11

Yes. You may need an adapter for the external drive, but it should work just fine.
