Canon Printer
I have the Canon printer PIXMA MP490, which is a 32 bit system and I was wondering I can still use the printer now that Apple have moved to the 64 bits system?
iMac, OS X 10.11

Try the open source drivers. That printer us listed, as being supported but on states it goes up to Catalina. However, I used it for an old Brother laser printer no longer supported by Brother but it worked.

Hi,
There is a Canon Printer Drivers v3.4 for macOS download from Apple. One should note that the System Requirements say OS X Lion or later and Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer. It could perhaps be worth a try anyway. However, it may not work. An installation may not even be possible. Look upon this as an experiment only. The Download button address appears to indicate some kind of change (certificate?) during 2020. A Canon MP490 series driver version 16.10.0.0 is listed in the article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out, so make sure that you have backup copies of all important files (documents, photos, et cetera) before testing anything.

Add a printer to your printer list so you can use it on Mac – Apple Support (UK)
Click here to download driver version 16.10.0.0, however, ICA Driver Ver. 4.1.3a (Mac) is listed as supporting Big Sur.
I have an ancient Canon PIXMA MG8120 that's works fine with my i7 iMac.
MX490 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 16.40.1.0 (Mac) is also available.
