My new iPhone 8plus stopped charging for hours. It eventually died and i left it on charge for about 3 hrs and it charged to 75%. I realised that it charges when its OFF but won't charge when its turned ON. I accidentally(i knew it wouldn't charge but i forgot) left it charging ON and it burnt up. I don't know what's wrong, even after it burnt a charger, it still charges while OFF. What's wrong?
Make an appointment and bring it all into Apple for a look, burnt charger and all. Whether this is a bad charger, bad cable, bad iPhone? Nobody here can tell that.
First of all, there is no overcharging on an iPhone.
Secondly, an iPhone will not burn up due to charging.
Where, exactly, did you get it?
If it came from an unauthorized seller, there's no telling what may have been done to it between the time it was originally sold and the time you bought it.
The charger burnt and the plastic melted, not the phone.
I notice the phone only charges when it Off. After I came to that realization, I fell asleep and left the phone charging while switched On, that's when the charger burnt. I wasn't sleeping for a long time either, maybe 30-45 mins.
The iPhone 8 Plus was discontinued a year and a half ago.
Your phone is not "new".
I figured that it's not, but that's the specifications I got when I bought it.
