Prevent Airpods from launching Apple Music

Lately, when I have my Airpod Pros (Model A2190) paired with my Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2019) running MacOS Monterey 12.2.1, when I open my Airpods case and take my Airpod Pros out of my ears and put them in my case, Apple Music starts up without my explicit request or permission.

There was a thread titled "Prevent Airpods from launching iTunes" that was started by Christopher Shaffer in July 2020 that has since been blocked for further replies, but I think it's similar to the issue I'm experiencing.

There was a suggested solution to go to the bluetooth settings to adjust what's set for the "Hold Left" and "Hold Right". I want to report back to say that the solution is not working for me and that there is no indication in the Bluetooth settings for my Airpod Pros that would lead me to believe that Apple Music app is being launched due to one of the base settings that I can control.

Is there some way to turn off the functionality that is launching Apple Music when I'm putting my Airpod Pros away? Please help!

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.2
