optimal screen resolution not found

I am using an external monitor (Pavilion monitor with an optimal screen resolution of 2560 x 1440) with my 2018 Macbook Pro. I recently upgraded to Monterey 12.2.1. Prior to this upgrade, my monitor worked just fine using the screen resolution of 2560x1440. After the upgrade, my screen resolution automatically switched to 720p. I tried to change it in system preferences, but it doesn't even give me any option above 1280 x 720. I tried to Google fixes and holding the Option while selecting "Scaled" resolution does not work. I would like to continue to use my external monitor without it looking like everything is zoomed it or large print.
