Finder, instead of iTunes, on iMac/Monterey

I have a two year old iMac with Monterey OS...from what I understand, these newer systems don't use iTunes and use Finder on the iMac instead...does Finder do everything for my iPhone that iTunes used to do (updates/sync)?...do I just plug in my phone to my iMac and go from there through Finder?
