Iphone messages being sent as both imessage and regular textings

Hello, so I upgraded my phone to an iphone 13. And for some reason, my texts keep going back and forth between Imessage and regular messaging. And my friend (who also has an iphone) says it is popping up as two different conversations, one being my number and the other popping up as my email. How do I just remove the email for him to only recieve texts from my number?

Check the settings for your messages. Also, make sure that iMessage is fully activated on your device. Settings>Messages, is it turned on? If you check Send & Receive, do you have the phone number and your Apple ID both checked? Just check your phone number. Unchecking the email should stop what is going to your friend. Do you have Send as SMS turned on? That does not have to be turned on, that is only if iMessage is not working. Also make sure you are connected to the internet at all times. When you are not connected to the internet the message will not go as an iMessage.
