My simple research suggests this feature has been supported directly in MacOS since 10.6, provided you use the built-in Drivers (which this StarTech adapter does not).
The Gigabit Ethernet Belkin adapter sold at the Apple Online Store and all the similar knock-offs appear to be using a different RTL chip, are immediately compatible with MacOS and do not use a driver.
The 10G Ethernet over copper by sonnettech and similar device sold by OWC/MacSales use the same chip as the iMac Pro and 2019 Mac Pro, and use the Apple Divers .

The technical specifications for the linked product specifically mentions that "VLAN tagging is currently not supported in macOS".
Have you installed the drivers specific to your macOS version? they are required for proper operation:
VLAN is an extremely contentious and ambiguous term.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
What used to work and does not any longer? Be specific.
The "technical specs" referenced are an Amazon ad.
The manufacturer's web site has a revised Driver that covers 10.12 Monterey, so it is possible that Amazon is showing information that is out-of-date,. It may work, PROVIDED you have the latest Driver installed. Without the latest Driver, there is no hope of it working.
I am a network engineer. This is a lab test machine. Under Catalina I had 10 defined vlans all working as expected.
I downloaded the most recent driver set provided by StarTech and installed the Monterey version driver.
In the vlan configuration screen the dropdown menu for the parent interface has no members... As described in other posts...
My question if if ANY GigE/USC-C interface actually works. I don't want to buy one of every model and test if someone else already has a known good device.

If you are running a large network:
I am using the second approach I mentioned, 10G Ethernet over copper (which uses the same 10G chip) on a card added into my Mac Pro 2009/10. It works great with built-in MacOS drivers first shipped in MacOS 10.13 High Sierra.
This chip and built-in MacOS Drivers also happily auto-speeds and downshifts based on wiring quality and switch capability and can do 10G, 5G, 1G, 100, and 10. Jumbo MTU frames supported.

Sorry, you posted a link directly to StarTech's own product page.
My mistake, You are right.
I stand corrected.
My heartfelt thanks!! You have saved me a lot of testing work.
