Encrypted backups of iPhone

I forgot my password for my encrypted backups. I am getting a new phone next week and wanted to back up my data so I can restore it to the new phone.

I went into settings and reset my Network settings which is supposed to clear my encrypted password. Now when I try and go in and turn off encrypt local backup I am getting the following error:

"The password you entered to protect your iPhone backup could not be set because backup has been disabled for this iPhone by an administrator."

How do I make sure that my new password has taken effect so I can back up and restore all my data to my new phone?

Resetting Network Settings does NOT reset the encrypted backup’s password. It just resets the Wi-Fi and Cellular Network settings.

Looks like you have created an encrypted backup of your iPhone on your computer. You have stated that you have forgotten the password.

There is nothing that you can do to change the password of that encrypted backup file. You will get unlimited guesses to enter the right password. If you cannot guess it, then forget that backup file.

I recommend that you create another backup of your iPhone and restore from the new backup. You can do this by deleting the encrypted backup first and then start a fresh backup. You can choose MANAGE BACKUPS when connected to a computer and then RIGHT CLICK on the backup file and choose DELETE. Once the old encrypted backup file is deleted then create another backup file and use it to restore your new iPhone from. More information below:

Do you have a backup created either on iCloud or on your computer?

Method 1 - Backup your old iPhone on your computer like this 👉 How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support and then Restore your new iPhone from that backup like this 👉Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

I have a brand new computer that I have never backed up to. The "Encrypt local backup" is selected as soon as I connect my phine to try and do my very first backup to this computer.

When I try and deselect it I try a password that I think it is and I get the following message "The password you entered to protect your iPhone backup could not be set because backup has been disabled for this iPhone by an administrator."

When I try a password that I know it is definitely not the correct password I get this error message "The password you entered to unlock your iPhone backup was incorrect. Please try again."

So either way I cannot turn off the Encrypt local backup.

If I backup I will not be able to restore since it is not recognizing my password with the strange error.

So thank you for your response, but it is not accurate for the issue I am having.
