How to completely delete apps not just icons

I have several apps that I no longer want or need. I want to delete them completely,Data and all so I can get the space back.

I’m NOT trying to delete the app icon from my Home Screen. I want it all gone.

I have tried everything.

When I go to App Library and hold the icon until it wiggles, all it does is send it to my Home Screen. On the Home Screen, hold the icon until it wiggles, choose delete, the app goes back to the library. Around and around I go.

There has to be an answer to this. I have so much needed space tied up in useless unwanted apps.
