series 7 SS 45mm watch how do I turn off the auto dim?

I recently bought a series 7 watch. At night when the auto dim feature kicks in it is too dim for me to use any of the features. I have the brightness turned all the way up and unfortunately apple has gotten rid of the setting where you can turn this feature off. it is sad that apple would remove a setting that helps people use their product. Does Apple have any intention of adding this setting back into the OS or should I just return my watch?

Returned my Apple Watch SE for a full refund just a few weeks ago for the same issue. Apple Store acknowledged the issue noting there is no way to turn off the auto-dim feature. I really wish they would fix this, there are so many threads about the problem. I would gladly sacrifice battery life to be able to read my watch.

I sadly just returned my new Apple Watch SE for a full refund because there is no option to turn off the auto dimming feature. I could not use my watch in most indoor environments, especially evenings and in restaurants. The suggested "fix" in some threads of shining my iPhone light onto my watch to brighten it doesn't make much sense, since if my phone is in my hand... why would I need an Apple Watch?

I hope they fix the issue and allow auto dimming to be turned off on the watch just like we can on phones. Not holding my breath, since this seems to be a known issue since the Series 5 watch and hasn't yet been fixed.

Thanks. I understand there is an ambient light sensor. There was a setting on Previous models that allowed you to basically turn off this sensor and gave you the ability to select a default brightness.

when it’s dark for me the watch is too dim to read anything but some of the high contrast faces. All other apps are rendered useless! Was hopeful there was a proper workaround. And/or express my dissatisfaction to Apple in hopes of having it addressed on later is updates.

This is the ambient light sensor kicking in,this adjusts your screen brightness to match the surrounding area, there is no setting or configuration for this.
