i recently bought a usb-c to lightning cable and apple usb-c 20w adapter to go with it but it is charging so so so slowly around 1% a hour but my old usb-b charger does 0 to 100% in almost a hour is it with the new charging setup or is my phone not used to this much power

However, the USB-C adapter and cable should charge at least as fast as the older USB-A. You might check the charging port for lint or other debris and see this:

yeah i tried my old usb-b cable was fine and I did try blowing into the adapter and usb-c cable still no difference
