How do I connect my Mac desktop to Ethernet instead of using Wi-Fi?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.0

Connect an Ethernet cable between your computer and router. In network preferences move the Ethernet network to the top of the list. What problem are you experiencing?

Power cycle your router and computer after connecting the Ethernet cable and putting Ethernet at the top of the network preferences.

Yes thank you, I have done that. I work from home and am required to use an ethernet connection not Wifi but when I turn off wifi and try to use the ethernet connection it says no connection when I try to use internet?
