I have HDMI-CEC turned on but I still can’t turn on home theatre control

How do I turn on home theatre control? I have HDMI-CEC turned on for my tv and receiver and it still does not work. I had it working perfectly fine up until I recently changed my service provider and the technician unplugged the HDMI to my Tv and I think from that point on it messed everything up.

On your ATV4K, go to Settings and verify that Settings > Remotes and Devices > HOME THEATER CONTROL: Control TVs and Receivers = On.

Presumably the Cable Guy/Gal was messing with your HDMI connections for a reason… Adding a new set-top box? Often settings such as “enable CEC” will refer to specific HDMI port(s) on the TV or receiver, so if the tech swapped HDMI cables around indiscriminately, then you’ll need to verify/configure things again with a mind to the whole system.

I would start by verifying that HDMI cables are connected correctly, then checking the settings of the new box to verify that it’s also got HDMI CEC enabled.

That's one of the problems. The ATV4K would not let me turn on home theater control. It was locked on "off", and all my CEC links are enabled at my TV and receiver. I'm thinking when the cable guy unplugged the HDMI to my TV it broke the HDMI handshake between my devices and couldn't correct itself.

I unplugged everything and basically started over. Then only plugged in my ATV4K. This seemed to work at first and everything was functioning normally again (could turn home theater control on now). I was super happy up until I tried plugging in the rest of my inputs into my receiver and then the ATV4K lost home theater control and was back to square one.
