Update install not working due to owner issue

How do I install the latest MacOs when it says I am not the owner?

Mac mini, macOS 12.0

updates typically require a machine administrator to install. Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Users and Groups will tell you if you are an administrator in your current login.

I am logged in as the sole admin on the device.

Is your App Store logged in a different user account than initially used to setup the Mac?
