Apple TV channel/app list

I am thinking of switching from using a Roku streaming device to an Apple TV device, but before I buy one, I want to know what I will be able to watch with it, and how that compares to Roku. For example, it looks like you can download Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, but what about less common channels/apps like the Criterion Channel, PBS, the Great Courses, Eros (Bollywood movies), Tidal, etc. I know these require separate subscriptions, but it's not really clear if they'd even be available if I bought an Apple TV.

It would be nice if there were a comprehensive list somewhere and/or a search function to see all the options, but I have not seen any. Can anyone point me to where I can get this information?

No such list is published publicly. It is also subject to change, as developers bring out new apps continuously.

Best to search on-device: Find apps in the Apple TV App Store - Apple Support

The Apple TV App Store has thousands of apps. Each app has an info web page. Google has indexed a lot of those. Just search.

✅ Criterion Channel 1454275199

✅ PBS 398349296

✅ the Great Courses 1017813651

✅ Eros (Bollywood movies) 551666302

✅ Tidal 913943275

Thanks for the responses.  It looks like most of the channels I use most of the time on Roku are available via Apple TV.  Unfortunately, one of them—the Great Courses app—is actually not available on Apple TV.  I ended up contacting the company’s customer service directly to find this out (the same company has another app, Wondrium, that is available, but I don’t subscribe to that one).  Consequently, I will probably stick with Roku for the time being rather than switching to Apple TV.

In general, it is frustrating that it is so cumbersome to try to find out what apps are available on Apple TV.  I understand that the available apps vary from place to place and that the list changes over time, but I should think it would be feasible to create a way for someone to look up this information without having to buy the device first.  As a consumer, I like to know what I’m getting before I spend the money.

It is presented as a successor, since May last year. Where the Wondrium subscription is a free upgrade to The Great Courses Plus subscriptions. The Great Courses Plus is now Wondrium - thegreatcoursesdaily.com
