how can I save pages document as pdf

Two routes:

Export to a PDF file:

OR

Press command-P to open the Print dialogue,

then click the PDF button and choose Save as PDF:

Either route will save a PDF version of your Pages document. The original document (in .pages format) will remain unchanged.
