iPad and Starlink

I just got Starlink, and I am unable to connect one of my IPads to the network. Strangely, every one of my other iOS devices connects. I do have a problem with one of my other iPads, as it will not autojoin the network, but will join if I do it manually.

anyone have this issue - of not joining the network?

the message I get is this:

“Unable to join the network “STARLINK.” If you’re network security is managed by WiFi address (also known as “MAC Address”), you may need to turn off Private WiFi address or modify your network settings.”

what I’ve tried:

  • rebooting ipad
  • hard reset of iPad (holding lock and home button for 10 seconds)
  • resetting network settings
  • turning off “private WiFi address”

Hey Tim!

thanks for the response. I had initially just breezed past the updated software question, because most of my devices re set to auto update. This is the kids iPad that they use for homeschool stuff, abs sure enough, the auto update was turned off. Not sure how that happened. Long story short - I updated and that solved the problem. Thank you so much for your post! You made me take a second look! Much appreciated!

Hi Matt, I'm sure you have checked this, however, have you confirmed your iPad is running the latest IpadOS?

What are the differences between the two iPads (is one an older model, one is a newer model)?

A stare and compare of settings between the iPad that works (though manually) and the iPad that doesn't work?

-Have you tried a forced reboot of your iPad (home button and sleep button simultaneous press until Apple logo appears)?

-Have you tried a full reboot of the router?

-Can you open a case with Starlink? (they may know of the issue and may have a workaround/patch)
