Images not loading in macOS 12 & iOS 15 Mail app

Around 3 weeks ago we realized images in our newsletter were not loading when opened in macOS 12 & iOS 15 Mail. When opened in different email apps, and in different versions of macOS/iOS Mail, the images would load with no problem. Switching from hosting the images on our usual, shared, server to hosting in Mailchimp also fixed the issue. The images are inserted in an img element's src attribute.

Unchecking "Block All Remote Content" in Mail's privacy settings did not fix the issue. We've downgraded our TLS to 1.2, as suggested in this thread, but that did not fix the issue.

Below are screenshots of the emails in Mail - not working, Gmail - working.

The problem is the SSL certificate on your usual, shared, server. I was unable to reproduce the problem with any of my own certificates. The OP in that thread tried making changes to the certificate but was unsuccessful. They were using some kind of off-brand SSL. My ssl.com and Let's Encrypt certificates worked fine.

You’re seemingly loading remote images.

That’s routinely used and abused for tracking.

Remote image load is increasingly disabled for user privacy, and users have to opt-in.

Settings > Mail > Privacy Protection

Private Relay also further blocks efforts toward tracking users through image loads.

Send your greetings images within the mail, and all will be fine.

Or require or expect your recipients to manually load embedded remote images, or to enable remote image loads, or to not use Private Relay.

Those social media links shown serve the ~same purpose; tracking.

Oh, and whoever named that “FINAL_Birthday” might want to rethink their naming choices.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've replaced our SSL certificate with one from SSl.com, and that did not fix the issue. See connection status below. No OCSP response was sent. Is that likely the issue?

Sorry. I have no idea. I checked your certificate at SSLlabs and it is significantly different than mine. You only have 5 TLS 1.2 ciphers. I have a bunch. I didn't do anything special with mine. I just picked defaults for everything. I am running Apache whereas you are using nginx. I don't know if that makes a difference or not.
