I can't update my AirPods Pro's firmware

I can't update my AirPods Pro's firmware. I tried charging it and putting it next to my iPhone and it's still 4C165 instead of 4C170. I also tried opening the case and nothing works. I restarted the iPhone and re-paired my AirPods and also nothing has happened. And no, it's not fake, I bought this in an apple Authorized Premium Reseller. Thanks!

What has worked for me:

Connect your phone to wifi and a charger.

Connect your airpod case to a charger next to the phone.

Connect the airpods, play something for a minute.

Place the airpods back into the case, close the case.

Walk away. Go outside, walk around the block. Make some coffee or hot cocoa and stare out the window contemplating life, the universe and everything.

After something like 20 minutes check if they updated.

Direct from Apple Support (as of 04/15/2022): “The 4C170 version is indeed for the 3rd gen AirPods. 4C165 is for AirPods Max, AirPods Pro and AirPods (2nd generation).”

I have Apple “AirPods Pro” and read online (just about everywhere I looked) that the current firmware for the AirPods Pro & AirPods 3rd gen. (seemingly as though they run the same firmware - which, as it turns out is not the case) was “4C170.”

I checked and noticed the firmware I was running (again…for my Pros) was “4C165”; then, like an idiot, spent the better part of an hour following all the steps Apple recommends for “automatically” updating firmware on AirPods and waiting around to no avail. Seemingly, my Pros were just not updating to the new 4C170 firmware.

Ultimately, I reached out to Apple’s chat support for assistance and within 3 minutes, it was established that the “problem” I was experiencing with my firmware failing to update…was, in fact, not a problem at all; and that I was already running the latest available firmware version for the AirPods Pro - which, again (as of 04/15/2022), is 4C165.

Refer to this Link: How to Update Your AirPods or AirPods Pro - MacRumors. Interestingly, it took 10 minutes for mine to update on my iPhone.

This one worked for me. To update the latest firmware connect both iphone and airpod case to charging cable while airpod is connected to the bluetooth. Leave it open for 20 minutes. It will update automatically. Reset your airpods by forgetting device on phone settings, open the airpod then press the backside of airpod charging case for 10 sec until status light flashes white. A setup animation should appear on your iphone screen. Tap connect and done.
