Rebooting the Mac may help. Also try power cycling your router since my router will sometimes have its WiFi acting weird.
I have seen some users report that using their laptop with the lid closed can lower the WiFi signal strength at the laptop (these were the USB-C models). The orientation and placement of your laptop can also result in a stronger or weaker WiFi signal on the laptop.
Signal strength and noise are to important items to look at. The WiFi Signal strength (RSSI) should be somewhere between -35db and -60db while the noise level should be around -90db. Some WiFi routers may utilize different bands which can have different speeds and attributes so you should verify the laptop is connected to the same band as your iPhone and iPad. You can get the signal & noise levels by Option-clicking the WiFi icon on the menubar.
Software issues on the laptop can also affect WiFi performance especially if an app is locking up the system or the system is under heavy load. Some USB3 devices can also interfere with WiFi. Try booting into Safe Mode to see if things improve which would most likely indicate an issue with some third party software (or possibly an external device if that device uses a third party driver).
Try running the Apple Diagnostics to see if any hardware issues are detected.
There are a lot of things that can impact WiFi connections. Remember those old cell phone commercials "Can you hear me now?" This is very true even with the WiFi in your home.
