Issues with excel for Mac

I am doing my audit internship and I use MacBook Air 2019 (8GB - intel based) version as my main workstation. Most of my work requires the use of Microsoft Excel. But I face the following issues while working with large excel files, mostly greater than 6MB:

  1. My excel file takes a huge time to load while working in huge files and I have a lot of unused memory.
  2. The windows version of excel is lot more efficient with filters especially I can select the filter options with space bar in Windows but I have to click manually using my mouse pointer.

PS. I don't want to use parallels or bootcamp, because I can sell my MacBook and buy a better windows laptop but I don't want to use windows.

Is there any hope for me? Or should I get back to windows?

It appears you have two issues:

  1. Computer performance is not what you expect it to be, and
  2. Excel is not performing as you need/want.

The solutions may be:

  1. Check that your computer is not running any third party apps that claim to protect, manage, boost performance, etc. These types of third party apps can slow your computer significantly. Post an Etrecheck report here so that we can see what may be affecting performance.
  2. Upgrade to the most current version of Microsoft Office.

If taking these steps solves your issues, then there is no more to do. If these steps do not solve your issues, the choice of getting a Windows computer is yours. I have several Windows computers that are working well. But my Macs are also performing well. The choice is yours.
