on location history it shows number of locations but no detail of where and when

Yes, it did and now it's not. Unfortunately, when you use a feature for an undocumented or unintended (by the developer) purpose, sometimes you end up not being able to do that any more when the developer makes a change.

Bring it back, please! My phone currently says 65 records and then it shows 2 locations with the time I was there, but they aren’t locations I need. I need the time of arrival and departure to/from my office every day. For the last 10 years I have gotten this info easily every week from locations/system services/significant locations, but it hasn’t worked since the last update

Not at this time.

If you are talking about Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services>Significant Locations, that data is collected for use by apps on the phone. It is not user accessible.

I used to do this also. Its so annoying that its gone.
