Do you use iCloud for Messages? To check, open Settings ➡️ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➡️ iCloud ➡️ Messages: This switch should be set to ON if you use iCloud for Messages.
If you use iCloud for Messages, then your Messages are synched between your iPhone, iCloud and other devices that you may have that are signed on with the same Apple ID. This means that the messages on your iPhone are the same messages on iCloud. If you deleted a message on the iPhone, then it is deleted on iCloud as well. The reverse is also true. You cannot retrieve deleted messages in this setting.
If you do not use iCloud for text messages then you can restore your iPhone from a backup on your iCloud account (if you use iCloud to back up your iPhone). Once you restore then your texts will only be as current as when the back up was created. Here is 👉 How to restore your iPhone from an iCloud back up.
The other option is to restore your iPhone from a backup that you may have created on your computer. Once again, if you restore your iPhone from a computer back up then your texts will only be as current as the day and time the backup was created.
If you have a backup created on your computer and If you choose to restore your iPhone from your iPhone from it then here is how to do it 👉 Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Checking then Messages App:
If messages was enabled on your iPhone along with your Apple computer, then check and see if the Messages app is enabled on your Mac to see if it exists in it. You'd start up your Mac, not connecting to the Internet, and open the Massages app. Then proceed from there with retrieving it. Important: Be certain you do not connect to the Internet while booting up, as syncing would delete it. So, power off your router to avoid the connection.
