Intermittent receipt of text message notifications

It looks like you're using a FitBit with your iPhone, which could be the cause of missed notifications if this is only happening when your FitBit is connected to your iPhone. I don't have a fitbit, but I've had this issue with my iPhone 5, 8, and now 13. Sometimes it plays a sound for text messages, sometimes it doesn't. And that's within the same conversation. I've gone through tons of pages that offer solutions, never found anything that works. Except the only solution I've not tried is that they suggest you don't use a customized sound for texts, use one of the pre-installed apple ones.

I should at least try that, but there is an oppositional side of me that finds it annoying that apple can't seem to make such a basic function work. So I insist on using my sound and I get notified of texts about 80% of the time. I keep hoping that apple will prioritize basic functionality over new whistles and bells, but so far every new iphone and software update has disappointed me.

But let me know if you try that and it fixes the issue. And I'll still probably not do it and just feel bitter about it. It's how I roll...

I am having the same problem. I had an iPhone 8 Plus and it was not always notifying me of text messages but my Fitbit was. My battery was also not holding a charge so I upgraded to an iPhone 13 last week. It is still happening. My focus is off and my settings are fine. It seems like it is happening mostly in the afternoon and is inconsistent. It’s frustrating. I didn’t pay this much to upgrade and have the same stuff happening.
