Headphone safety

Is anyone else having problems trying to turn off headphone safety? I have googled and researched for 2 days now. I’ve tried it all. Nothing seems to help. This safety feature is not just for headphones. It has affected my portable stereo as well as CarPlay. I should be able to determine at my age (45) how loud I want to play my music regardless if it’s headphones, portable speakers, and CarPlay.

Bad move Apple.

I am also extremely frustrated with Headphone saftey. My iPhone does not have the option to switch it off. I listen to audio books, podcasts when out walking etc, and now can only hear them if I essentially press my airpods into my ear and hold them there with fingers. If anything this is opposite of safety as it blocks most ambient noise! Ironically if I disconnect the airpods and use speak is almost too loud! There is clearly something wrong with how this is working and it needs to be fixed. I also agree that at forty plus years it is my right to decide on the volume I listen at, once it is not impacting others. Apple claim this is based on law, but that is not the case, it is a recommendation from WHO. So unless a clear applicable law can be cited to show this, then we should at least have the option of switching this off! It is super frustrating, and means for the first time I am considering moving to a Samsung that I can at least use as I wish. More than a bad move, Apple - its intrusive and hitting at your loyal client base!

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities, Kk4tbbucs,

In some regions, regulations and safety standards prevent the ability to disable the headphone notifications. If you are in a region that does allow you to, the steps below will guide you through how to turn these notifications off:

Turn headphone notifications on or off

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPod touch.
2. Tap Sounds & Haptics, then tap Headphone Safety.
3. Turn Headphone Notifications on or off.

You can also turn on Reduce Loud Sounds to automatically lower your headphone volume when it exceeds your set decibel level.

You can get more information on this notification, and find the above steps, in the Apple Support article Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch - Apple Support.

Enjoy your weekend!
