Airpods disconnecting when calling out from Univerge ST500 app

My airpods disconnect when I’m dialling out using the Univerge ST500 app - they work perfectly when I receive calls through the app, but for some reason they don’t like outbound calls.

There’s no setting for this in the app itself so I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if it’s a phone setting that I can change?
