Remove write protection for CDRW disc

How can I remove the write protection from a CDRW disc in a remote disc drive connected via USB port?

Macbook pro, operating systen Sierra 10.12.6. Remote CD disk drive connected to Mac at USB. Can not edit a Xcel file once save on the disc.

A: then is operating as designed.

You may be laboring under the misconception that a CD-RW is a block-replaceable device, "just like a regular Disk drive" It most certainly is NOT. There is no expectation that you can edit individual files.


If you think of these discs as ERASE-Able, and re-usable, you will be able to make rapid progress.


What you can do easily is ERASE the disc (in its entirety) and write the same disc with new data.
